This means that the material absorbs water but also releases it again. Under standard conditions of 23C and 50% relative humidity, polyamide reaches water saturation at approximately 2.5%. The mechanical properties, particularly flexibility and minimum holding force, are significantly affected by the water content. For optimal processing of the cable ties, it is therefore important that the polyamide is in equilibrium with a water content of approximately 2.5%. The quality and workability of the products are affected by their water content, so proper storage is essential. If the cable ties become brittle, brittle cable ties intended for private use can regain nearly their original flexibility by being stored in water for approximately 3060 minutes.
